Abstract
alpha-Methylene-gamma-butyrolactone (tulipalin A), which has been found to possess effective insecticidal activity against Thrips palmi (Thysanoptera; Thripinae), was examined on several insect pests. This compound caused hig h mortality against thrips species such as Frankliniella occidentallis and Frankliniella intonsa. In addition, some mortality was observed against oth er agricultural pest species. It is considered that alpha-methylene-gamma-b utyrolactone has a wide spectrum of insecticidal activity.
