Abstract
Single crystal X-ray structure determinations of two solvated silver sulfon ates have been obtained and these compounds have been shown to adopt infini te one-dimensional motifs. {AgOTs(MeCN)}(infinity) (OTs = p-toluenesulfonat e) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group, P2(1), a = 8.4278(5) Angstro m, b = 5.7413(3) Angstrom, c = 12.1057(7) Angstrom, beta = 109.24(1)degrees . {Ag(NDsA)(MeCN)(2)(H3O)(H2O)(2)}(infinity) (NDSA = 1,5-naphthalenedisulfo nate) crystallizes in the triclinic space group, P-<(1) over bar>, a = 8.34 07(4) Angstrom, b = 10.4374(5) Angstrom, c = 12.3399(6) Angstrom, alpha = 1 01.941(8)degrees, beta = 109.24(1)4 gamma = 102.190(8)degrees. Despite one compound containing a monosulfonate and the other a disulfonate, both compl exes form infinite one-dimensional arrays.
