Abstract
The Stoeckli method for the estimation of micropore size distribution (PSD) is analyzed and quantitative relationships between the mean and width of t he PSD and the parameters a and m of the Stoeckli equation, as well as a qu alitative relationship between the DA exponent, n, and the PSD mean and wid th, are presented. The method is applied to nitrogen adsorption data obtain ed on a series of activated charcoal cloths and quite reasonable and intern ally consistent semiquantitative micropore size distributions are obtained. Criteria which should be used to assess the reliability of the results obt ained when the Stoeckli method is applied to experimental data are suggeste d. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
