New snake (Tropidophis) from western Cuba

A new species of Tropidophis is described from the northern coast of La Hab ana Province, western Cuba. It is tan and has two rows of prominent, dark b rown dorsal spots and a pale neck band. It most closely resembles another s pecies from western Cuba, T. maculatus; in having a high number of ventral scales and in being prominently spotted. It differs from that species and o thers in aspects of scalation and coloration.
