Abstract
YNbO4:Bi phosphor screens deposited by the electrophoretic deposition metho d have been examined using laser Raman spectroscopy. Evidence was found tha t screens, which manifested poor performance under cathodoluminescence test ing, were contaminated with Fe3+ ions. The presence of Fe3+ ions could only have originated in the stainless steel anode. This work demonstrates the d anger of using anodes capable of poisoning the phosphor.
