Md. Tomshin et al., Peculiarities of magmatic formations from the Nakyn kimberlite field of the Yakutian province, GEOL GEOFIZ, 39(12), 1998, pp. 1693-1703
A complex of magmatic rocks has been revealed within the Nakyn kimberlite f
ield of the Yakutian diamondiferous province. Here, tholeiite-basalts, alka
li basic rocks, kimberlites, and explosion breccias of uncertain morphogene
sis, composed of the fragments of alkali basic rocks to the extent of 80-90
%, are associated in space and time. In the serpentine-chlorite-carbonate c
ement of the breccias accessory minerals of diamond were found. Geological
and radiological data suggest the Middle Paleozoic age of the magmatites an
d the following sequence of their formation: tholeiite-basalts-kimberlites-
alkali basic rocks-explosion breccias. The paper describes the features of
all the above magmatites and presents data on the unique nature of the new
discovered kimberlite pipes. It is concluded that all magmatic rocks in thi
s region are related to a common magma-controlling zone of deep faults.
