Abstract
Spectral shifts of a ultrashort pulsed Gaussian beam are discussed fro m the viewpoint of the beam. We obtain the spectral shifts in the whol e space, taking the far field spectral shift as a special case. The ge neralization to a system containing optical elements and to higher ord er Gaussian beam is straightforward. Non-spectral shift conditions are obtained.
