Abstract
Pulmonary mucormycosis is rare in solid organ transplant recipients. Only o ne ease has been reported previously in a cardiac allograft recipient. Howe ver, the Rhizopus species in that study was not identified. We report a cas e of successful surgical treatment of pulmonary cavitary mucormycosis due t o Rhizopus rhinopodiformis in a cardiac allograft transplant recipient. A r eview of the literature on pulmonary mucormycosis occurring in solid organ transplant recipients is also presented.
