Reversed-phase liquid chromatography of 1,3-benzodioxanes in Piper mullesua

A simple, rapid method for the direct determination of five 1,3-benzodioxan es, fargesin (1), sesamin (2), asarinin (3), 1,3-benzodioxole-5-(2,4,8-trie ne-isobutyl nonaoate) (4) and 1,3-benzodioxole-5-(2,4,8-triene-methyl nonao ate) (5), in Piper mullesua extracts by reversed-phase liquid chromatograph y with UV detection is described. The separation of these compounds was per formed with acetonitrile-water (65:35) using a mu Bondapak C-18 column with 10-mu m particles (300 mm x 3.9 rmn I.D.). (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
