Abstract
The surface oxide formed on cobalt nanoparticles has been studied by Mossba uer emission spectroscopy. Exposure of the cobalt particles to oxygen at ro om temperature was found to result in the formation of a relatively well-or dered surface oxide with Mossbauer parameters similar to those of CoO.
