Magnetization-induced second harmonic generation (MSHG) and spectroscopy of
magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) are studied in Co-Cu magnetic granular
films. The MSHG studies reveal the giant nonlinear magneto-optical Kerr eff
ect (NOMOKE). The NOMOKE magnetic contrast and the angle of Kerr rotation o
f the second harmonic wave polarization exceed the corresponding MOKE param
eters almost by two orders of magnitude. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All
