Body-centred-cubic alloys of Fe and In, elements which are immiscible in eq
uilibrium, have been prepared by mechanical alloying. The variation of Moss
bauer hyperfine field distributions deviates from that expected for a rando
m solid solution, indicating some clustering of In atoms. Measurements of s
aturation magnetisation suggest that In carries no moment and simply dilute
s the Fe moment. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
