Abstract
Glasses of the system 70TeO(2). 25B(2)O(3). 5SrO doped with CuO up to 20 mo l% were investigated. Mixed valence states (Cu2+ and Cu+) of copper ions we re revealed. Depending on CuO concentration, Cu2+ are distributed as isolat ed ions in axially distorted octahedral symmetric sites, or associated in c lusters. The magnetic behaviour of the studied glasses was interpreted in t erms of dipole-dipole interactions. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All righ ts reserved.
