Abstract
Homogeneous glasses of the system xFe(2)O(3).(100 - x)[Bi2O3.GeO2] were obt ained within 0 < x less than or equal to 20 mol%. EPR absorption spectra du e to Fe3+ (3d(5)) ions show the g approximate to 4.3 line as the main featu re. The site symmetry of Fe3+ paramagnetic ions is predominantly rhombic. M ixed valence states of iron ions in samples with x > 5 mol% Fe2O3 were dete cted. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
