The stability against chemical pressure of the new magnetic ground state of
Mn in the system Dy1-xYxMn2 with 0.3 < 1 - x < 0.75 was studied by doping
the system with La or Ni. The inherent volume anomaly at the magnetic trans
ition cannot be suppressed indicating that the next neighbor Mn-Mn distance
does not play a decisive role in determining the different magnetic ground
states. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
