Abstract
High-quality (1 1 0) SmFe2 single-crystal films have been elaborated for th e first time by molecular beam epitaxy. X-ray diffraction experiments have shown that the films are strained. The thermal variation of the spin orient ation, studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy, is limited in the film compared t o what is observed in the bulk compound. Finally, SmFe2 films present a per pendicular to the plane magnetic anisotropy. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
