Magnetostrictions occurring in ferromagnetic materials under alternating fl
ux conditions can be measured by using strain gages, however, unnecessary v
oltages are also induced in the common gages due to fluctuating outer magne
tic field. To solve the problem, we developed a new strain gage that could
remove the influence of the outer magnetic held and applied it to measuring
two-dimensional magnetostrictions. The results show that the new gage is v
ery useful in the accurate measurement of the magnetostrictions under rotat
