Abstract
Copper associated hepatic failure may be considered as a differential diagn osis for hepatic disease in young dogs.) Diagnosis of copper-associated hepatic failure should include histologic ev aluation of a liver biopsy specimen stained with rubeanic acid, and measure ment of hepatic copper content. Treatment of hepatic copper accumulation includes decreasing gastrointestin al tract absorption and enhancing excretion by using copper chelating agent s.
