Stereoscan studies with descriptions of new characters of the egg and larval instars of Salticella fasciata (Meigen) (Diptera : Sciomyzidae)

New data on the morphology of Salticella fasciata immature stages are given from stereo scanning microscope observations. Distinctive features are pre sented for the egg chorion and the main sensorial structures of the cephali c, thoracic and abdominal segments of the larvae. In contrast to previous s tudies, the presence of float hairs on the posterior disc is clearly observ ed in the three larval instars. The ecological and phyletic significance of some characters are discussed.
