Experimental results obtained by rheological measurements, DMTA and DSC of
polyethylene oxide with mol weight of 2.7 million ave shown. Water absorpti
on has been estimated as a function of relative humidity during storage of
the material. The influence of absorbed humidity on T-G, elastic modulus an
d melting temperature is discussed. Based on rheological results, a special
extruder screw for processing polyethylene oxide has been designed. Cast f
ilms of PEO have been successfully produced on small scale using such equip
ment.
