The ability of the ternary system Nd{N(SiMe3)(2)} (3)/Al(iBu)(3)/AlEt2Cl to
polymerize butadiene at 70 degrees C in heptane or toluene was studied. Th
e microstructure of the polybutadiene obtained was found to be highly cis-1
,4. The effect of the ratio Nd{N(SiMe3)(2)}(3)/Al(iBu)(3)/AlEt2Cl and the p
olymerization solvent on activity and polybutadiene microstructure were stu
died. The best result was obtained for a mole ratio of 1/40/2 in heptane.
