Abstract
The Pamela experiment is the central part of the Russian Italian mission pr ogram for the measurement of the cosmic-rays spectra and the search for ant imatter. The Pamela magnetic spectrometer consists of six planes of double sided silicon detectors inserted into a permanent magnet. The design of the silicon tracker aims at reaching two main goals: mechanical robustness of the structure, which must survive the stresses during the launch, and the m easurement of the charge and the momentum of the incoming particles as prec isely as possible. Tests, on a telescope consisting of five ladders, perfor med with a 4.5 GeV beam, show an excellent spatial resolution and a good si gnal-to-noise ratio.
