Coprecipitation of Pu(IV) from its approximately 5 x 10(-7) M solutions wit
h manganese dioxide, produced by reduction of MnO4- ions with SO32- ions in
0.5-8 M NaOH and with Mn(OH)(2), produced by reduction of MnO4- with hydro
xylamine in the range from pH 9.5 to 8 M NaOH, was studied by the radiometr
ic technique. Plutonium fairly efficiently coprecipitates with manganese di
oxide and with Mn(OH)(2) in 0.5-2 M NaOH and in solutions with [OH-] less t
han or equal to 6 M, respectively, Carbonate ions and complexing agents dec
rease the decontamination factors in precipitation of Mn(OH)(2).
