Good intentions are not enough: Practice guidelines for social work

Practice guidelines are the Infest attempt to bring science to bear on soci al work practice. They are a worthy effort, but like earlier efforts, may a chieve limited success. It is unlikely these documents rt ill be read by so cial workers, and the guidelines themselves may not be readily usable. More over the social work knowledge bare is thin and practice decisions are gove rned by many nonscientific considerations.
