Correlation between hysteroscopic aspects and anatomopathologic diagnosis in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding or thick endometrium, echographically described
Mtj. Sacilotto et al., Correlation between hysteroscopic aspects and anatomopathologic diagnosis in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding or thick endometrium, echographically described, 10TH WORLD CONGRESS ON HUMAN REPRODUCTION, 1999, pp. 215-220
Among 1440 hysteroscopies performed between january 1st, 1995, and october
31st, 1998, 250 patients submitted to endometrial biopsy were studied: 129
with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), 121 with thick endometrium (TE), diag
nosed by echography. Among the patients with AUB, results were: heterogeneo
us endometrium x adenocarcinoma, 4 cases: atrophic x atrophic, 16; focal he
terogeneous x simple without atipy endometrial hyperplasia? 51; polyp x pol
yp, 20; heterogeneous x endometritis, 7. Among the patients with TE: polyp
x polyp, 30; heterogeneous polypoid endometrium x without atipy endometrial
hyperplasia, 54; heterogeneous x adenocarcinoma, 1. In the other cases, in
both groups, malignancy was not described. The correlation between hystero
scopic aspects in the cases of AUB and the results of anatomopathologic exa
ms was 62,6%; in the cases of TE, 78,6%, as quotted on litterature. Hystero
scopy is a good method, orienting well endometrial biopsy, in the diagnosis
of endometrial pathology.
