Abstract
Scatter fractions have been determined experimentally for lucite, polyethyl ene, polypropylene, aluminium and copper of varying thicknesses using a pol yenergetic broad X-ray beam of 67 kVp. Simulation of the experiment has bee n carried out by the Monte Carlo technique under the same input conditions. Comparison of the measured and predicted data with each other and with the previously reported values has been given. The Monte Carlo calculations ha ve also been carried out for water, bakelite and bone to examine the depend ence of scatter fraction an the density of the scatterer. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
