T. Davies et al., Molecular epidemiological survey of penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae from Asia, Europe, and North America, DIAG MICR I, 34(1), 1999, pp. 7-12
One hundred penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRSP) strains fr
om Asia, Europe, and North America were analyzed using pulsed-field gel ele
ctrophoresis; fingerprinting of penicillin binding protein (pbp) genes; and
BOX PCR. Re-stilts show that six PFGE patterns (three patterns comprising
greater than or equal to 2 serotypes) were found widespread and accounted f
or 64 of the 100 PRSP strains. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Inc.
