Abstract
The optimisation of the production resources and the contractual interchang es of electrical energy with neighbouring utilities is based mainly on a sh ort term forecast of the electrical load. The aim of this paper is to give the reader a modelisation framework and an exhaustive introduction from an engineering point of view to the problem of short term load forecasting. A commercial forecasting service available on the WWW is also shortly describ ed.
