Abstract
This paper is devoted to a tutorial introduction to a sample set of operati onal planning problems which have been successfully solved using artificial neural networks. The problems treated include unit commitment, economic, e nvironmental and dynamic dispatching, generation expansion planning, and ma intenance scheduling. It is learned that while some applications involved t he celebrated back propagation network, the majority of reported applicatio ns involve the Hopfield-Tank neural network.
