Abstract
An explicit relation is derived between the helicity of the vector hel d corresponding to the configuration of the closed U(1) Nielsen-Olesen strings and such quantitative characteristics of the curved contours as the linking and writhing numbers. The direct evaluation of the writ hing number for the closed string containing a helical segment is pres ented.
