There is a wide variation in the prevalence of parasitic diseases in differ
ent countries, particularly in the Tropics. The clinical status of affected
patients varies from normal to severe ill health. Radiology has acquired a
major role in the diagnosis and, in some instances, the management of a si
gnificant variety of parasitic infections. Plain films, ultrasound, compute
d tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, together with the help of clin
ical and laboratory tests, can reach a diagnosis with a high percentage of
accuracy.
