Vb. Taraban et al., Interaction of excited molecules with radicals in polymers under the action of light and radiation, HIGH ENERG, 33(3), 1999, pp. 165-170
Using photo- and radioluminescence methods, it was shown that the electroni
cally excited states of glassy polymer matrices were quenched by macroradic
als via mechanisms other than energy transfer. Specific interaction of the
radicals with excited molecules, which can be treated as a combination of m
igration and spin exchange in the encounter complex, results in an increase
in the local concentration of triplet states in the radical neighborhood a
nd the trapping of radicals primarily in the form of clusters.
