Abstract
The authors present the Hector distributed runtime environment, in which "s lave allocators" forward commands from the central allocation system, monit or system availability and loading, and can transparently extract detailed performance information from programs as they run. The authors detail the o verall architecture of the agent-based allocation system and demonstrate it s efficiency, low overhead, and utility.
