Abstract
Gated X-ray images of laser-driven implosions can provide movies of typical ly 16 frames with similar to 80 ps time resolution and 10 mu m spatial reso lution, Cylindrical implosions allow study of convergent hydrodynamics but with excellent diagnostic access down the axis of the cylinder, This exampl e from a recent cylindrical implosion campaign on the OMEGA laser provides quantitative data on the growth of ablative Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities i n convergent geometry.
