An extension of the hierarchic models for thin, orthotropic laminated
plates proposed by ([1]) is presented. The main idea of the hierarchic
model concept is the adaptive choice of a suitable model for a precis
e and effective approximation of global and local effects. In this con
text a recursive scheme for an automatic determination of models of ar
bitrary order is developed. This generalization offers the opportunity
to integrate the concept in nonlinear algorithms, for example to stud
y instability and collapse phenomena of thin plates.
