K. Takahashi et al., Malignant pheochromocytoma with multiple hepatic metastases treated by chemotherapy and transcatheter arterial embolization, INTERN MED, 38(4), 1999, pp. 349-354
A 62-year-old Japanese male developed multiple hepatic metastases two years
after resection of pheochromocytoma of the right adrenal gland, Transcathe
ter arterial embolization (TAE) was performed for the purpose of the treatm
ent of hepatic metastases resistant to 27 cycles of combined chemotherapy c
onsisting of cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine, After TAE, the
hepatic metastatic lesions decreased in size and hypertension passed its c
risis. The present case suggests the utility of TAE for multiple hepatic me
tastases under careful blood pressure monitoring.
