Abstract
Scheuring & Janosi described a metapopulation model which did not exhi bit chaotic dynamics. Indeed, contrasting results were observed in sim ilar studies. The general issue behind these works is the occurrence o f complex and unpredictable dynamics in biological populations. I woul d like to comment specifically on Scheuring & Janosi's paper, and more generally on the issue of chaos in population dynamics. (C) 1997 Acad emic Press Limited.
