Abstract
Reproducibility of self-assembling Mn-based nanostructures, grown by molecu lar beam epitaxy on CdTe(0 0 1) surface, was achieved by tracing the format ion process simultaneously via reflectance difference spectroscopy and refl ection high-energy electron diffraction. Pure Mn crystallites were at first fabricated and, in a second stage, with the deposition of Te on the precur sor structures, 'volcano'-like structures were revealed by atomic force mic roscopy analysis of the surface morphology.
