Abstract
Results are shown of experiments that increase the surface spatial ordering of strain-induced InAs quantum dots on (1 0 0) GaAs using a subsurface InA s island superlattice. Nearest-neighbor ordering, approximately in the [1 0 0] direction is demonstrated. A simple theory is used to show that the nea rest-neighbor surface ordering in [1 0 0] results fi om the anisotropic str ain distribution of the cubic GaAs substrate.
