Abstract
The a.c. conductivity measurement has been used to probe into the possible conduction mechanisms (Vehicle or Hopping) in proton conducting acid hydrat e Phosphomolybdic acid H3PO4. 12MoO(3). nH(2)O. The magnitude of hopping ra te and its temperature dependence evaluated from a.c. conductivity data doe s not favour the hopping mechanism of conduction. The value of activation e nergy (Ea similar to 0.76 eV) supports the vehicle mechanism of ion transpo rt. (C) 1999 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
