Long-lived radionuclides, Tc-99, Cs-137, Np-237, Pu isotopes and Am-241 wer
e determined in the long sediment cores collected from nine intertidal site
s around the west Cumbria of the Irish Sea, UK. The inventories of an nucli
des measured varied considerably among the sampling sites, but generally th
eir inventories decreased with increasing distance from Sellafield. Further
more, the inventory ratios with respect to relationship with distance from
Sellafield enabled comparison of transport behavior of Tc-99, Cs-137, Np-23
7 and Am-241 compared with Pu-239,Pu-240. AS a consequence, the apparent fr
actional rate of solution transport to the intertidal sediment was found to
increase as follows: Tc-99>Cs-137>Np-237>Pu-239,Pu-240 greater than or equ
al to(241)Am.
