Polycrystalline samples of KTi1-xNb1+xO5 (x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) were synthesiz
ed by solid-state reactions. The synthesized compounds were blue-colored, s
uggesting reduced oxidation states. Single phase KTi1-xNb1+xO5 was obtained
for 0 less than or equal to x < 0.2, suggesting that the solubility limit
is between x = 0.2 and 0.3. The reduced oxides exhibited semiconducting beh
