The ion-plasma method of depositing refractory coatings makes it possible t
o treat parts at temperatures of about 200 degrees C. Since these temperatu
res correspond to aging regimes of heat-treatable high-strength aluminum al
loys, it becomes possible to combine the process of deposition of a wear-re
sistant coating with toughening treatment of them that consists of quenchin
g and aging. The present paper concerns results of a study of the tribotech
nical properties and corrosion resistance of titanium nitride coatings depo
sited by the ion-plasma method on alloys D16, PV90, and 1420.
