Abstract
A reproducible procedure for the synthesis of the new zeolite SUZ-4 is desc ribed. Na+ cations are not required but they are detrimental for the synthe sis, as they favor the competitive co-crystallization of mordenite. The res ults imply that quinuclidine is not incorporated into the zeolite when used and is not necessary for the crystallization of SUZ-4. Avoiding Na+ cation s, increasing the concentration of K+ and eliminating the expensive quinucl idine additive afford a convenient and reproducible way for the crystalliza tion of SUZ-4. The physicochemical characterization of this new zeolitic ph ase and its catalytic properties for the skeletal isomerization of n-butene s are reported. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
