Abstract
An efficient numerical scheme to simulate tropospheric ducting propagation (TDP) is presented in this paper. This scheme solves the parabolic equation (PE) approximation in conjunction with the finite-element method (FEM) and the local transparent boundary condition (LTBC) It is shown that a simple LTBC can be effectively used to account for the radiation in TDP, instead o f the recently published nonlocal transparent boundary condition (NTBC), wh ich is much more complex and consumes more computer time.
