Abstract
The University of Chile and NTT Laboratories officially started the researc h collaboration project in late 1994 and have been working actively. In 199 7, the centennial year Japan-Chile friendly relations, we held two major mu ltimedia Video conferences: 1) Academic TeleForum and 2) TeleCabinet Meetin g with Chilean President and the cabinet. Based on the success of the first phase of the joint project (November 1994 - March 1998), the second phase (April 1998 - March 2001) is now proceeding.
