T. Okuda et al., Performance of n-gamma pulse-shape discrimination with simple pile-up rejection at high gamma-ray count rates, NUCL INST A, 426(2-3), 1999, pp. 497-502
The performance of n-gamma pulse-shape discrimination for a liquid scintill
ation detector has been investigated for gamma-ray count rates up to 50 kcp
s. A method in which the ratio of the total to partial charge in the anode
pulse is directly measured has shown much improved quality of the pulse-sha
pe discrimination when pile-up events are rejected; it can discriminate neu
tron events of 50 cps from gamma-ray events of 29 kcps. The method with sim
ple pile-up rejection has the advantage that only general purpose electroni
cs are required. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
