Optical constants measurement of luminescent polymer films

The absorption coefficient and refractive index spectra of four para-phenyl enevinylene and two para-phenylene-ethynylene luminescent polymers in the w avelength region from 330 to 670 nm are determined. The reflectance and tra nsmittance of cast films on fused silica are measured to determine their op tical constants and the thickness. The absorption spectra of the neat thin films are compared with the absorption cross-section spectra of the polymer s dissolved in tetrahydrofuran. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights r eserved.
