Abstract
Ethyl ethoxymethylenemalonate reacts with cyanothioacetamide and N-methylmo rpholine to give N-methylmorpholinium 3-cyano-5-ethoxycarbonyl-6-oxopyridin e-2-thiolate. Alkylation of the latter yields S-alkyl derivatives.
