Ai. Pashagin et al., MAGNETIC-FIELD OF A DEFECT INSIDE THE DEFECT CAVITY AND NEAR-THE-SURFACE OF THE ARTICLE, Russian journal of nondestructive testing, 32(8), 1996, pp. 611-617
We have measured the field of a defect of the slot type (modeling a fi
ssure) inside the defect cavity, near the surface of the specimen, and
for different gaps between the probe and the surface using flat induc
tion coils of different thicknesses. We have shown that the probe dime
nsions and the gap and also the range of measurable defect widths cons
iderably affect their classification according to certain parameters.
The measurements of the field of the defect may be made independently
of the defect width only within limited intervals of the defect parame
ters, determined by the gap and by the dimensions of the probe.
